EXPERIENCE CHANGE WITH FAMILIES FIRST
serving North Carolina and Virginia

Statement on Social Injustice
Families First is an inclusive organization. As an organization we refuse to tolerate any act of racism, sexism, homophobia, or any act or acts targeted towards any group of human beings. We pride ourselves on being a company made up of women, men, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, single parents, immigrants, and people representing multiple faiths. It is our goal to serve the families we work with and our community to the best of our ability which means acknowledging our own biases and privilege. We strive to objectively analyze behavior and address target behaviors based on their function as well as the radical behavioral idea that even individuals with Autism experience internal emotions that impact the presentation of their behaviors. Our code of ethics demands that we do not engage in any form of discrimination, that we do knowingly engage in harassing or demeaning behavior towards any persons with whom we interact client or otherwise, and that we recognize our own problems or conflicts that may interfere with our effectiveness (bacb.com). Any employee or applicant who does not uphold our professional code of ethics is not welcome as a member of our team and any family who acts in violation of these guidelines will be asked to seek services from another provider.
We refuse to stand by and allow acts of violence, discrimination, and aggression to go unacknowledged. We formally and publicly denounce the use of violence against any individual and ask that other ABA providers join us in the fight against racial injustice in our Country.

A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.
